M105A3 Landing Leg Stabilizer

The mounting mechanism (bracket and bolts) for the landing leg/caster used on the M105A3 Cargo Trailer is subject to fail if the trailer is moved without being properly hooked to a prime mover. The landing leg mounting bracket and bolts used on the M105A3 trailer are not stable enough to move the trailer without being attached to a prime mover. The mounting mechanism may cause the landing leg to fail during normal operations, specifically if the trailer is being moved by hand.

On May 9, 2009, the tank-automotive and armaments command (TACOM) issued Ground Precautionary Action (GPA) 09-019 requiring the inspection of all M105A3 trailers and ordering the replacement of any landing leg more than 5 degrees off vertical. 

The replacement landing leg is the Williams M105A3 Landing Leg Stabilizer, which is significantly stronger.  The product has successfully passed a series of tests proving its strength.  This product will significantly enhance soldier safety, and make the process of attaching or detaching the trailer faster.
